I think I sharpied about 30 people's knuckles. There were many recycled 8-letter-words since unoriginal material in Portland becomes new and novel material in Maryland. There were a few grammar violations (punctuation is not allowed to count as a letter) but they were still pretty good.

Lots of people were being pansy-asses about letting me ink them since it was a weeknight and they had to work in the morning. This girl is the winner because she had to go work in a BANK in a few hours and still let me do it:

(I did notify her that particular knuckle tattoo was already claimed by someone in Oregon who deserved it more than her, though.)

The Rumors Are/Not True

It seems that some dude named Andy of the Rain City Shwillers is givin' me bad (but still free, so still appreciated) press to assorted Seattle peeps in regards to my most recent trip up there. Either Andy is some kind of cruel bastard trying to shamelessly wreck the reputation of an honorable young maiden OR my friend Nick is a liar (either of which may be true, honestly).

Anyway. The story is that he was at the All Bets On Death / Altarboys show and subsequent after-hours gathering at the boys' house in Ballard. According to Andy, I passed out wasted and was somehow relocated to the front yard where a variety of my peers proceeded to do ollies over me (I'm assuming on skateboards, but I didn't get any additional details, so maybe it was unicycles or hovercrafts). I was then unceremoniously brought back into the house after much spectacle and ridicule where I continued to be blacked-out-drunk, therefore waking up the next day with no recollection of said events.

The problem with this story is not that it's a blow to my dignity or a total fabrication of the truth. My problem is that I wasn't allowed to get in on it before it started being circulated, that way I could preempt the inevitable "DUDE! Did that really happen?!" conversations I'd later have at the bar with people who were not there. When the rumor gets back to me within two degrees of ~~Kevin Bacon~~ separation, it would be effective for me to be prepared to help exaggerate the truth rather than be caught off guard and ruin the slander-momentum before it really gets going. Right?

Anyway. Truth is I was one of the last people to pass out that night and was the first person to wake up in the morning. There was no black-out and I'm sorry to report that shit never happened. Really, nobody is more sorry than me. Sounded like I missed a good time. Thanks Andy, who ever/where ever you are!

After wrecking my car in Portland shortly before riding with Nate up to the show in Seattle, this night turned out to be the most fun I've had all year. Rock-n-roll shortly followed by post-show absurdity at the ABOD house.
